Archie Miller, younger brother of Sean Miller, became the second former Arizona Wildcats assistant to reach the Sweet Sixteen as a head coach when Dayton upset Syracuse 55-53 today in the South Regional.
Kevin O’Neill, who served as an assistant under Lute Olsonfrom 1986-89, took Marquette to the Sweet Sixteen in 1994.
Josh Pastnerhas an opportunity to join Archie Miller and O’Neill if Memphis upsets No. 1 seed Virginia in a third round game Sunday at 5:40 p.m.
A total of 11 assistants under Olson and Miller have advanced to the head coaching ranks.
