Hudson Hanerthrew a no-hitter, while striking out 16 of the 18 batters he faced, to help the Rincon 9-11 All-Stars defeat Ahwatukee 1-0 Monday night at the state tournament taking place in Sierra Vista. Haner gave up one walk in the first inning and never looked back. Meanwhile, Rincon put together six hits in the game, including a double from Nathan Ventura, but the team broke through in the second inning after Bryce Brownsingled with two outs, Steven Woodrumwalked, and Raelyn Tanorifollowed with an RBI single to score Brown for what turned out to be the winning run.
The game was played after a lightning delay and the team advances in the winner’s bracket to play Arcadia Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
