31 Holes In One (Bible Tract)
Recently I read an obituary about a golfer who had died.
The obitituary stated, "His legacy is continuing and on going in the way he has touched the lives of his fellow golfers."
"He lives on in the memories of people through the lessons he taught everyday."
During his lifetime he had 31 holes in one and had won many golfing awards.
The obituary didn't say he had gone home to be with the Lord but did mention he had been a member of a masonic lodge for many years.
I could only guess at what his legacy really had been and the lessons he taught everyday.
Was his legacy only golfing awards and his 31 holes in one? How did he touch the lives of his fellow golfers and others?
How sad would it be if his legacy was only golfing, calculating his handicap, practicing his swing etc and making golf in effect his idol.
God has a standard for assessing our "handicap" or ability of what we do and have done, it is The Word Of God.
How much better would it be if he touched lives witnessing and teaching the gospel of Christ!
Don't make golf your idol while ignoring Jesus the Creator and Saviour.
Fame and fortune are things that are temporary and pass away when you die.
Men are respector of persons but God is not. Rom 2:11 "For there is no respect of persons with God."
Ask yourself this: If I were to die today where would I spend eternity?
Luke 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened... and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works... And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11,12,15
God has a set of Books in which everything we say and do are recorded. In one Book, called the Book of Life, are recorded the names of every born-again believer. The Bible says anyone whose name is notfound in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire to be tormented forever. In another Book are recorded every sin which we've committed and also the good we've done. It is important to realize that no matter how much one's good works outweigh the bad, they will still be cast into the lake of Fire if their name isn't found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. This is why Jesus sternly warned in John 3:3, “ Ye must be born again. ”
