Autodesk provides virtual design and construction management solutions to help improve the overall planning, coordination, and control of a project from beginning to end. The Autodesk BIM solutions allow you to explore and evaluate a project’s constructability before it’s built, improve cost reliability, visualize construction processes through 4D simulation and clash detection, increase coordination between stakeholders throughout the design and construction process, and better predict, manage and communicate project outcomes. Be sure and watch this informative video that was created Solar Decathlon teams that outlines the workflow and all the tools available to you. Construction Management Curriculum Autodesk has created video tutorials, exercises and assessment questions that support the courses a Construction Management student will take. Below are quick links to the specific curriculum Units for each category. Intro to BIM and Design Unit 1: BI

Behrokh Khoshnevis is a professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering and is the Director of Manufacturing Engineering Graduate Program at the University of Southern California (USC). He is active in CAD/CAM, robotics and mechatronics related related research projects that include the development of novel Solid Free Form, or Rapid Prototyping, processes (Contour Crafting and SIS), automated construction of civil structures, development of CAD/CAM systems for biomedical applications (e.g., restorative dentistry, rehabilitation engineering, haptics devices for medical applications), autonomous mobile and modular robots for assembly applications in space, and invention of technologies in the field of oil and gas. His research in simulation has aimed at creating intelligent simulation tools that can automatically perform many simulation functions that are conventionally performed by human analysts. His textbook, "Discrete Systems Simulation", and his simulation

3-D Printing for Automated Home Construction?

Science and technology buffs are abuzz about the latest video presentation by USC professor Behrokh Khoshnevis. At an April 2012 TEDx event, Khoshenevis demonstrated how an entire house could theoretically be built in 24 hours using a giant 3-D printer. Don't hang up your tool belt just yet though. Robotic construction has been in the news for over a decade, and about all we have to show for it are the same short walls and little domes. Still, given the pace of innovation in 3-D printing technology, an automated building application should not be dismissed entirely as science fiction. 3-D printing produces physical objects from computer designs. It has influenced manufacturing in the automotive, medical, aerospace, jewelry, and eyewear industries to name just a few. 3-D printing is an "additive" fabrication process as opposed to the traditional "subtractive" one. Plastic, metallic, or ceramic composites are laid down by high-tech nozzle

3D Printer a Game Changer for Architecture Design

Pada video diatas : Piet Meijs, Senior Associate from Rietveld Architects in NY talks about 3D printing and the architectural industry. He demonstrates how the Objet 3D Printer helps the firm drastically improve its architectural model production, communicate with clients and secure more projects. As seen on the Objet blog http://blog.objet.com/
