Interrogating Information 4
Intelligent Integration
John Petze
share his thoughts in an interview "Finding
What Matters” in a sea of data
Several of our articles build on this theme such as Jim Sinopoli's
Dashboards for
Buildings
.
Dashboards are
meant to convey essential information quickly and clearly on one screen.
Guy Huntington
shows us a new dimension in Interrogating Information in his article;
Revolutionizing Building Physical Security
Having a physical security system that
easily integrates with your tenants’ identity management system, means that you
can now transfer some of the liability to your tenant for creating, modifying,
removing and archiving identities from the physical access system.

Connecting Building Automation to Everything
Our cover picture graphically shows that our connection to information
technology is daily extending its reach. I have included a link to
a web site about this, a six-story 3,200-sq.-ft digital sign billboard plus other connections in the stuff across
my desk.
This is stuff that I never know quite what to do with but feel compelled to
share with you before I delete, because it is fun and heralds the media and social trends that are changing our industry. So what else is Building Automation connecting to?
Social networks! After much
prompting from the industry, grumpy antisocial Ken finally got with the
program and created a personal presence and magazine presence on LinkedIn, I started a AutomatedBuildings.com Group
.
Please join us on LinkedIn and interact with our magazine & online
resource in real time while sharing your thoughts with our editors and
other readers around the world.A great article about how our industry is becoming social media acceptable. Social

from Australia
, Croatia
and Italy
in this issue.Nino writes from Croatia; In
an ideal world, we will be able to be vendor and protocol independent. Everything will talk to everything

These developments, and the exceptional
level of support globally and at the highest levels in Washington, lead me to
be certain that Smart Grid is here to stay, not a passing fad. Most important
to readers of AutomatedBuildings.com, Smart Grid has significant implications
for building automation and energy management in buildings. From demand
response, to energy efficiency and automation, and enterprise integration, Smart
Grid will create significant opportunities for BAS players. Lots of great articles
