LOYTEC and Cimetrics announce BACnet / EIA-709 Controller IC
This Controller IC (called LISA) is an advanced "Convergence Solution" for manufacturers looking for an inexpensive way to implement a BACnet or ANSI/EIA-709 product or to create a dual solution able to be changed by firmware.
This new chip (designed by Loytec and NEC) includes an array of powerful features including: 10/100 BaseT Ethernet MAC, two EIA 709 network controllers, ARM7 RISC CPU running at 60 MHz and 32 general purpose I/O ports. All of this is in addition to the 2 UARTS (1 full HS) to 3 Mbaud, unlimited external RAM/FLASH, Watchdog timer, Boot ROM with 3k boot code, and serial SPI interface.
Two software development kits (SDK) will be available; An ANSI/EIA 709 and 852 SDK using LOYTEC's ORION? protocol stack and a BACnet SDK based on Cimetric?s BACstacTM, the leading 3rd party BACnet protocol stack. Both kits include an Integrated Development Environment, RTEMS operating system, TCP/IP stack, a protocol analyzer, test programs, prototype PCB, and more.
For more information read this months article LonWorks and BACnet System Solution on a Chip Both protocols have become well established and manufacturers are working to offer building systems supporting both platforms. by Al Mouton, President, Loytec Americas Inc.
