I'm sad. The Navajo Nation now appears to be the center of the Covid19 pandemic in the United States. And they don't have the medical facilities to handle it. They need help.

Helping Them

Your story has increased my consciousness of Native American history, and my own heritage. In my own area, the Yakama (Located in South Central Washington) and the Nez Perce (Western Idaho, Eastern Washington, and North Eastern Oregon) are having high numbers of the sickness also. Doctors Without Borders, Headquartered in Switzerland and with teams around the world have sent a team to the Dine'. I think, but I do not know that the Mormons have sent some aid also.

I had hoped to go to Albuquerque in the fall, hopefully after the virus, but it may still be closed. Right now in Grants, no outsiders are being let in. This is very sad. There is a Native man, a member of the Dine', Harold K. Tso, on Facebook, who has been quite helpful in informing the outside of their plight.

I am sad with you.

According to a news piece I just read, lots of money is now in the account, but it must be appropriated by the Navajo Government.
