Another Update

Been a little while since the last update, so here it is:

Covid sucks and impedes writing.

Long-term recovery is still underway with all the fatigue spells making a mess of concentration at random intervals. Progress on the next book however IS proceeding, even if I've had to force myself to get to it on days (like today) where I may as well be a vegetable due to the brain refusing to boot in the morning. In fact Part 2 is almost drafted, so the whole is just a few thousand words short of being a third of the way complete. Which doesn't feel like enough given how time keeps slipping past, but at least the forward momentum is on the mend after getting nothing done for the two weeks of virus-triggered uselessness.

Considering this pace, I'm wondering if folks would like a teaser chapter taken from what's to come in Book 5? And if so, should it be posted as a blog post or a proper story chapter marked as a 'Teaser'? You know, just to prove that 'yes! I -am- working on it!'

Or maybe this is just a 'brain-fog' induced silly idea? I'm curious as to what people think about that kind of thing.

Anyways, I promise that chapters are progressing and the level of ridiculous obsession with these books and the entire story is just as high as always, i.e. monopolizing all available spare cycles. Priorities though do need to remain with work, cats, and being social with the spouse first...and not necessarily in that order. ;)

(Because let's face it...the kitties usually win.)

But, but ...

*Puts on whiny, slimey Covid Disinformer voice*

Covid is just a mild cold, well 'I' had it and it was a nothing burger. You are just whining and whimpering and making excuses for not making progress !

*Returns to normal voice*

I am so sorry you caught it, especially hard to avoid if one has kids. I am one of an increasing minority who has not caught it (unless I am asymptomatic but I reacted pretty strongly to the vaccine so I doubt it) and stories like yours just reinforces the need to continue masking even if people want to pretend the pandemic is over.

Knock wood that you do not get long covid.

Reacting strongly to the

Reacting strongly to the vaccine is actually a good sign. It means your immune system went nuts quickly. Just keep up with boosters. I mean look at me. I've had three shots so far, and you wouldn't believe the cellular reception I'm getting now.

Long Covid

I'm a little worried about that, to be honest. Even though it's been a few weeks now since 'recovery', I still get tired after any activity - even things like the grocery store run this morning. And the chest is starting to consider congestion again.

Yup, definitely whining and whimpering. But after a bit more of this tea I shall throw on some headphones and bring up Scrivener anyway - because Jordan needs to go yell at Isaiah. ;)

Still feeling symptoms

Ouch.

I was afraid you would say this.

Don't over do it as in the long run you need your income and to have income means you have time to write.

When I first heard about Covid I thought it sounded far worse than when I got the Hong Kong Flu in 1968 and my fears have been borne out. And I went through all hell with that.

Even for a youngster like I was back then, it was still a couple of weeks after going back to school, after at least being 4 weeks out of school, before I truly felt being back to normal. To be honest, I really don't remember how long I was out of school as at least the first 3 weeks went by in a blur of fever, vomiting, nausea, coughing etc. I still remember being taken to the emergency room where I suffered the indignity of pooping out a poop sample on the examination table. It was at this point the doctors informed my family I had caught it.

I could've been out for 2 months for all I could remember as the teacher was surprised I was back, having thought I had been taken out of the school. The annual school picture was taken about a week or so after I came back and the picture looked like I had just gone through hell.

Rest Up!

One of my customers is a

One of my customers is a cardiologist (there are five doctors there, actually, all of the same family), and one of the articles that was left up on a machine that I read (so sue me, you put it in front of me, I'll read it) said to treat Covid19 sufferers the same way as someone that just had open heart surgery. It's extremely similar inflammation and recovery times/methods. So you might look into that, and try one of the various recovery structures.

Teaser

Personally I would not put out a teaser as it would just be too much of a tease for me and I would pout at not getting the proper chapter. But that is just me of course.

Save your time and energy, in my opinion, for a proper release.

Yes Indeed - Covid Sucks

I had it last week and my wife is recovering this week. I hope that you recover completely.

Your story is so complex that I had to read it (cover-to-cover) TWICE in order to try to comprehend it. It's a masterpiece!

Thank you!

Hopes for you both

May both of you also recover completely and escape the long fatigue crud!!

My friend at work who shared it with many of us was a bit of a doofus over the weekend: Saturday he spent mostly sleeping from the lingering effects, and then Sunday he thought he was doing better so he started doing stuff in his woodshop again.

Managed to garf a hand with a drill press and needed stitches. :/ Could have been a lot worse, but still...

And thank you for the kind reviews!! :)
