An EBF Maiden Stakes over 7f on good to soft going. Thirteen two-year-old colts take part. Five juveniles with race experience. Plenty of renowned trainers taking an interest in this Plus 10 contest with win prize money a shade over £5,000. A big old field but plenty of interest. Roger Charlton fields *Zafferino. This son of Frankel is out of a once-raced mare. This home-bred is owned by Saleh Al Homaizi & Imad Al Sagar. He started 8/15f in a four-horse race but couldn't hold the late challenge of Seniority. Zafferino was a touch keen on his racecourse debut but held in high regard by connections. With that initial experience, this February foal should go well and has sound each-way claims. Sir Michael Stoute should always be respected in the latter part of the season and he has sent out a few nice two-year-olds over the last few weeks.

Sadly not enough time to write a substantial post for this excellent race but a few pointers. Firstly, look at the price money for this maiden. Win price money of £31,125. Astounding. Worth more than most Listed races. The form of this 7f contest will produce many future winners and many will contest Group races. Last year's contest was won by White Lake, a debutante trained by Luca Cumani. A race that was far from a vintage renewal and this gelding proved slightly disappointing although competing at pattern class. I sense this contest will detail a winner of greater class. Brian Meehan said he was ''very confident'' about the chances of Perkunas. I've rarely heard him talk about a horse in such terms. Very Talented ran well on debut at Goodwood and it held in high regard by Godolphin and Saeed Bin Suroor. Definitely worth noting. Luca Cumani rates Beautiful Morning. This beautifully bred filly cost 650,000. This daughter of Galileo

A Median Auction Maiden Stakes over 1m 141y. Eleven juveniles take part: just four colts against a flirt of fillies. Sicur was a relatively expensive yearling at 87,000gns and clearly held in some regard. This bay colt made his debut at Newmarket and, unusually for the stable, he was sent off 3/1 after being backed from over double those odds. Since that start, he has been placed on two further starts and damn unlucky not to have won with a short head second at Doncaster and then a quarter-length loss at Nottingham behind Sir Henry Cecil's Autun. Luca Cumani and Patrick Hills have proven a strong team this season and connections - Scuderia Rencati Srl - will be expecting a big run. By all accounts this is a drop in class and he must go very well. This son of Dylan Thomas will take all the beating.

The first division of this EBF Maiden Stakes over 1m on good ground. A large field of colt with three fillies, the majority of the field once raced, with a couple of promising juveniles who have solid claims. Greatwood will be many a punter's idea of the winner. This son of Manduro trained by Luca Cumani was unfancied early on the exchanges but the word must have got out this juvenile owned by Highclere Thoroughbreds had ability because because he was substantially backed just before the off. This 85,000gns purchase wasn't best away and given time to find his stride. Patrick Hills gave this youngster a superb introduction and this March foal fairly clawed up the hill chasing home a decent filly in the shape of Penny Rose. By all accounts that was a fine debut effort beating Intimidate into third place. This step up to one mile is sure to be appreciated. The only negative is that Cumani has a poor win rate with his fancied juveniles on their second start. However, this bay colt l
