Hunger continues to be one of the greatest problems facing our world today. There are many causes. Natural disasters and human made catastrophes have a devastating effect on food production. Poor people in the developing world spend up to 80% of their income to buy food, usually basics such as wheat, rice or corn.
Government policies make people hungry! Governments in both the developed and developing parts of the world exercise policies that can have an extremely negative impact on the food chain. A price reduction on a commodity in the developed world, often means that the producer in a developing country suffers a loss in income. In the developing world, unfair distribution systems can often cause food shortages.
BWAid doesn't only feed the hungry, but looks at some of the causes, and seeks to alleviate them. Sometimes hunger funds are needed to purchase or ship food to those who are hungry. At other times, we can provide the resources for people to grow their own food. In the USA, funds can be designated to BWAid from CROP Hunger Walk activities.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:14-17)
This past year BWAid provided:
Your gift of $50 dollars can help feed a family of six for a whole month in Syria, where 4.5 million people have been displaced by the civil war. A gift of $100 will help feed a family for 3 months in the Democratic Republic of Congo where 900,000 people have been displaced because of the civil war and only ten percent are receiving any kind of aid and the rest have to fend for themselves. In both these countries we work with Baptist churches to provide aid to the most vulnerable people, women, children and the elderly. We may not be able to feed all the hungry people in the world but with your assistance we can help reduce hunger, one family at a time.
