Chatt Tech Police Chief Mary Foreman

Meet Chattahoochee Tech’s New Chief of Police, Mary Forman

Chattahoochee Technical College has announced that Campus Police Lt. Mary Forman is the college’s new Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety. She was selected for this position upon the recent retirement of Chief Tim Hilley.

“We are grateful to Chief Hilley for his years of service, and we are proud to welcome Mary Forman as the college’s new Chief of Police,” said Chattahoochee Tech President Dr. Ron Newcomb. “She has held leadership roles at the college demonstrating a strong dedication to fostering a secure environment. We are confident that she will do an outstanding job for our nine campuses, ensuring that our students, faculty, staff and campuses are safe.”

With over 24 years of service in public safety, Chief Forman began her career as a 911 operator before applying at the age of 21 to be a police officer at Kennesaw State University. After completing the police academy and field training, she served for many years as a KSU police officer before being promoted to lieutenant. She then joined the Chattahoochee Tech Department of Public Safety in March 2016 as a campus police officer.

For the past five years at Chattahoochee Tech, she has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the college’s police department. She supervised and coordinated police officers on multiple Chattahoochee Tech campuses. Since 2019, she also led the college’s Department of Public Safety in annual training efforts. Chief Forman is now spearheading the initiative to obtain state certification for the college through the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program, which is administered by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). This program establishes standards promoting professionalism in law enforcement, and awards certification status to Georgia law enforcement agencies that meet the established standards.

“It is my goal, as will be the goal of the entire Chattahoochee Tech Police Department, to provide a welcoming, inclusive and transparent community environment on all of our campuses,” said Chief Forman. “Our students, faculty and staff should feel an unwavering confidence in our police force. With over 200 years of cumulative police service in our department, we will continue to provide protection, education and training to all so that we are the safest college we can be.”
