제목 Comparative Investigation of Bulk and Thin Film SOFCs with Direct Ammonia (NH 3 ) Fuel
초록 Ammonia (NH 3 ) is an attractive carbon free energy carrier. Conventional solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) operated above 700℃ can directly utilize NH 3 fuel due to its Ni-rich fuel electrodes and high temperature operation. However, direct NH 3 SOFC operated at low-to-intermediate temperature (500 to 650℃) have drawbacks both in electrochemical reaction and NH 3 decomposition reaction. In this work we compared conventional SOFC and high performance thin-film SOFCs (TF-SOFC) under H 2 and NH 3 fuel at 500 ~ 650℃. TF-SOFC showed record-high performance for direct NH 3 operation. However, limited NH 3 decomposition reaction at lower temperature led to large performance gap between H 2 and NH 3 fuel. Addition of NH 3 decomposition catalyst is required to further increase the performance of direct NH 3 TF-SOFCs.
