BANGKOK– Police from the Central Investigation Bureau have arrested a ruthless 36-year-old man for yanking his ex-girlfriend’s head and dousing her with acid. She suffered severe injuries because she refused to get back together with him.
The arrest happened on April 3, 2024. Police from the Crime Suppression Division, under Deputy Commissioner Nathsak Chewanasi, tracked Mr Surachai down and nabbed him at a construction site in Bang Phra Kru, Nakhon Luang district, Ayutthaya province.
According to the police report, the incident happened on April 9, 2024 . The victim had dinner with a friend at a restaurant in Bang Krasan, Bang Pa-in district, Ayutthaya. Afterward, they headed to her sedan to drop the friend off at her place. Mr Surachai had hidden inside her car using a spare key to get in.
Once alone after dropping off the friend, Surachai begged her to reconcile. She said no. They argued fiercely inside the vehicle. When she pulled up near her village entrance in Bang Pa-in to seek help from security guards, he chased her.
He grabbed her head, dragged her back, and poured acid from a pre-filled gallon jug onto her head and face. Then he fled.

The victim rushed to the hospital. She endured third-degree burns, deep and widespread. The acid attack destroyed skin layers and some capillaries across her head, ears, face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, arms, and legs. Her brother filed a complaint at Bang Pa-in Police Station against Surachai.
Investigators got the warrant for “causing grievous bodily harm, and hunted him nonstop. Officers from the Crime Suppression Division gathered tips and staked out a construction site. They spotted him driving in and arrested him, and handed him over to the Bang Pa-in station for prosecution.
Further checks revealed Mr Surachai faces two other warrants: First, a Pathum Thani Provincial Court warrant, black case A824/2023, red case A650/2024, dated May 14, 2024. Charge: forging and using fake documents.
Second, Ayutthaya Provincial Court warrant, black case A592/2024, red case A600/2024, dated May 23, 2024. Charge: theft using a vehicle for convenience, escape, and receiving stolen goods.
Mr Surachai allegedly confessed fully during questioning. He admitted carrying the acid in his shoulder bag that day.
