CHONBURI– Police say a 20-year-old stepfather has confessed to assaulting 3-year-old “Nong Phupha,” a boy who later died from his injuries. He told investigators he acted out of anger and said he did not expect the child to die .
The case came to light after the Paveena Foundation helped the boy’s mother file a complaint. She said her son died suddenly while he was alone with his stepfather. At the time, she was away at work in a factory.
Earlier, the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital released the autopsy results. Doctors found heavy internal bleeding in the abdomen and a tear in the small intestine.
They also found bruising on the stomach, eyes, and body, along with abrasions on the scrotum. The head showed bruising around the area. Doctors concluded that the child had been struck with a hard object.
According to the latest update on March 30, 2026, at the investigation room of Nong Kham Police Station in Si Racha district, Chonburi, Police Colonel Khomkrit Manjit, superintendent of Nong Kham Police Station, said officers had taken Mr. Soradet, age 20, into custody. He faces a charge of assault causing death.
Police said that after getting court approval for an arrest warrant, officers moved in right away and brought the suspect in for more questioning. During the interview, he admitted that he was the one who attacked the child.
He said he lost his temper, assaulted the boy, and then burned his body and scrotum with cigarettes. He claimed he never thought the abuse would lead to the child’s death.
Officers have now formally notified him of the charge listed in the warrant. He remains in custody and will face legal action.
