BANGKOK– Citi Thailand continues its commitment to empowering Thai youth with essential financial literacy skills amid growing recognition of the importance of financial planning among younger generations.
As part of the 21 st edition of Citi Global Community Day, over a hundred Citi employees volunteered to deliver financial literacy workshops and enhance learning facilities at Wichianklinsukonupatham School in Ayutthaya Province. The initiative aims to equip young people with practical life skills while contributing to stronger and more resilient communities in the long term.
Narumon Chivangkur, Country Head and Banking Head, Citi Thailand, said that “At Citi, we believe that strengthening communities begins with expanding access to opportunities and equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
Every June, Citi colleagues around the world come together through Citi Global Community Dayto give back to the communities where we live and work. On the 21 st edition of the program in Thailand, our focus remains on advancing financial literacy among young people, one of the most important life skills for building long-term financial well-being and economic resilience.

Enhancing Financial Literacy
Through our partnership with Teach for Thailand, we have delivered hands-on learning activities covering budgeting, saving, and personal financial management, helping students develop essential skills for their daily lives.”
Enhancing financial literacy among young people remains an important priority in Thailand. According to the Bank of Thailand’s 2024 Survey on Financial Literacy, Saving Behavior and Access to Financial Services, while overall financial literacy levels have improved, significant gaps remain in financial planning and budgeting, with respondents scoring only 47.3 out of 100 in this area.
The survey also found that individuals aged 15–22 tend to place greater emphasis on present consumption than on long-term financial planning. These findings highlight the importance of fostering financial discipline and money management skills from an early age.
Equipping young people with financial knowledge not only helps them achieve long-term financial goals but also enables them to share these skills with their families and communities. Over time, this can contribute to reducing financial vulnerability and strengthening the country’s economic resilience.
In addition to conducting financial literacy workshops, Citi employee volunteers participated in activities to improve the school environment, creating a conducive space for learning and personal development.

Fostering a Culture of Service
The initiative reflects the spirit of Citi Global Community Day, which brings together employees, their families, and community partners globally to create meaningful and lasting social impact.
“Citi Global Community Day is about more than a single day of volunteering. It represents our commitment to fostering a culture of service and encouraging our employees to contribute their time, expertise, and resources to help create opportunities for others.
We believe that even small actions, when sustained over time, can make a meaningful difference and help build stronger communities,” Narumonconcluded.
Saksopon Sukuan, Deputy Director of Wichianklinsukonupatham School, said, “Life skills and career readiness are among the key priorities of our school as we prepare students to thrive beyond the classroom.
On behalf of the school, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to Citibank Thailand for its support in improving our learning environment and providing financial literacy activities. These are valuable skills that students can apply in their daily lives, build upon for future success, and ultimately use to achieve greater self-reliance.”
