BANGKOK– Scoot, the low-cost carrier supported by Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced new routes to Chiang Rai in Thailand and two Japanese cities, Okinawa and Tokyo (Haneda). These flights will begin gradually from December 2025 through to March 2026, with each service connecting through Singapore.
Adding these three new routes gives travellers more options for journeys around the year-end and New Year holidays. Travellers can stop in Singapore before heading on to their final destination, making long trips more comfortable and flexible.
Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot, shared his enthusiasm for expanding the Scoot network across Asia with the launch of these flights to Chiang Rai, Okinawa and Tokyo (Haneda). The extra flights planned for the coming months should help meet rising demand over the festive and New Year holiday period. Scoot remains focused on connecting travellers with new experiences and memorable journeys.
This latest expansion follows on from Scoot’s previous announcement in July about flights to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam, as well as Kota Bharu in Malaysia. Routes to Da Nang, Nha Trang and Kota Bharu will roll out from October to November 2025, operated by Embraer E190-E2 jets. Scoot is also preparing to add Medan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia to its schedule for the 2025 winter season, with more details promised at a later date.
5 Weekly Flights to Chiang Rai
Located in northern Thailand, Chiang Rai is known for its remarkable mountain scenery and calm surroundings. The province is rich in Lanna heritage and ethnic diversity, which can be seen in its architecture, local food and arts. Scoot will operate five weekly flights to Chiang Rai starting 1 January 2026 with an Embraer E190-E2. This move will boost Scoot’s presence in Thailand and strengthen links to key destinations in Asia.
Okinawa, a tropical island chain in Japan, is famous for its clear beaches, sparkling seas and Ryukyu roots. The area also has UNESCO-listed cultural and natural sites, offering visitors a unique blend of history and natural beauty. Scoot will also launch flights to Tokyo (Haneda), giving travellers another convenient route to Japan’s busy capital.
Okinawa flights will run three times a week from 15 December 2025 using Airbus A320 aircraft, while daily flights to Tokyo (Haneda) will begin from 1 March 2026 with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Starting rates for one-way economy tickets are 6,930 THB to Okinawa and 7,005 THB to Tokyo (Haneda), taxes included. These can be booked now on Scoot’s website and app, with other booking channels opening soon. With these new flights, Scoot will operate 111 weekly services to Thailand and 45 to Japan. Overall, Scoot reaches 76 destinations in 18 countries and territories across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.
Alongside route launches, Scoot will also increase flight frequency on several routes to meet expected high travel demand over holidays and festivals.
Scoot Chiang Mai Flights will Double
In Southeast Asia, flights to Bangkok will go from 35 to 39 per week from August 2025. Chiang Mai flights will double from 7 to 14 weekly by December 2025. Hat Yai flights grow from 10 to 11 per week from September 2025, and flights to Ipoh increase from 17 to 21 each week from November 2025.
For North Asia, Tokyo (Narita) flights via Taipei will reach 14 per week from October 2025. Sapporo (Hokkaido) via Taipei will offer seven flights a week from December 2025. Singapore to Taipei flights will rise to 25 per week from October 2025 and up to 28 per week from December. Jeju flights jump to seven per week from January 2026. In Europe, flights to Vienna will increase to four per week from March 2026.
Scoot has also revealed its updated KrisFlyer miles redemption chart. Members can now use their miles for Scoot flights at fixed rates, starting from just 1,500 miles for basic economy fares. This covers popular routes such as Bangkok, Hangzhou, Ipoh, Jeju, Taipei and Vienna. Taxes and extra fees apply, but members can earn one KrisFlyer mile for every SGD spent on extra services with Scoot.
The revised KrisFlyer chart shows Scoot’s aim to offer more benefits for members, including stable rates when using miles for flights. PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Silver members continue to enjoy perks, such as extra baggage allowance, complimentary standard seat selection, priority boarding and, at some levels, a one-time change fee waiver.

Today, Scoot operates more than 50 modern aircraft, including Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Airbus A320S and Embraer E190-E2S.
