PHUKET– Residents and tourists saw a frightening start to the holiday weekend after a speedboat exploded and burst into flames at the deep-water pier in Ao Makham Phuket. Early reports confirm 5 injuries and 1 person still missing . Port authorities and rescue crews jumped into action. They controlled the blaze and began searching right away.
Mr. Adul Raluekmul directs the Phuket branch of the Regional Port Office. He explained the incident happened around 11:00 a.m. that day. The speedboat blew up with fierce fire next to the customs dock. That spot sits in Wichit subdistrict, Mueang district, Phuket.

Rescue teams acted fast after the explosion. They towed the burning boat to mid-water first. This kept flames from spreading to nearby docked vessels. Fire boats arrived quickly. Rescue workers sprayed water and doused the fire soon after.
In total, 5 people suffered injuries: 4 men and 1 woman. Ambulances rushed them to local hospitals for urgent care. Meanwhile, searchers confirm one man remains missing. Teams continue the hunt without pause.
