Advertising

All of our ads are self-serve. There are a few different ways to create an ad, including boosting a post and creating an ad in Ads Manager.

Our Advertising Policies provide guidance on the types of advertising content allowed. When advertisers request an ad to be published, which includes boosted posts, each ad is analyzed under these policies. Understanding the policies and guidelines helps you to avoid ad rejections and get your ads running as quickly as possible. Advertisers can run ads about social issues, elections or politics, provided the advertiser complies with all applicable laws and the authorization process required by Meta.

Boosting posts

Boosting posts is the simplest form of advertising on Facebook. With boosting posts, you can quickly run ads directly from your Page by promoting one of your posts. Boosting posts allows targeting via age, location and gender.

Running ads

Running ads includes creating ads in Ads Manager where you will have more options for your ads.

Ads Manager is the tool that enables you to create and manage your ads. With Ads Manager, you can:
  • View, make changes and see results for all of your ads campaigns
  • Utilize a step-by-step process to develop ad campaigns by using ad creation to design your ads
  • Manage, control and customize multiple ads at once by editing settings - such as audience and a budget
  • Evaluate your ad’s performance by viewing up-to-date data on the quality of your ads and schedule reports

Audiences

When you are advertising, keep your audience as broad as possible for buying efficiencies. Consider demographic targeting in addition to contact lists and website visitors. When creating your audience, keep these tips in mind:
  • Install the Meta pixel on your website to track your site visitors and to create and audience of people who have visited your site.
  • Get started with the Conversions API : The Conversions API is a tool for organizations that enables you to share data for which you have all of the necessary rights and permissions directly from your server. The API is also designed to honor privacy controls. For example, if people use our Off-Facebook Activity privacy tool to limit whether their off-Facebook activity data is associated with their Facebook accounts, those privacy choices will extend to the data connected using the Conversions API.

Creative

People consume content differently from one another. While some enjoy watching videos, others may prefer scrolling through a carousel or looking at static images. Some may like doing all of these. Review our creative best practices and consider having a mix of creative to allow you to connect and engage with as many supporters as possible.
