How do I use the camera on Facebook?
You can use the Facebook camera (example:
) to take new photos to share in a post or to your story
. To try different camera modes (example: boomerang) or take new videos, log into the Facebook app for iOS or Android.
To take a photo or video to share in a post:
1.
Tap What's on your mind?
at the top of your Feed.
2.
Tap Photos/Video
.
3.
Follow the prompts to take a photo or video.
4.
To change your audience, you can tap the audience selector
below your name (example: Public
or Friends
).
5.
Tap POST
.
To take a photo to share to a story:
1.
Tap + Add to Story
at the top of your Feed.
2.
Follow the prompts to take a photo or video.
3.
Tap Aa
to add text, or tap
to add other creative effects to your photo or video.
4.
Below Your Story
tap to change your story audience in the bottom left (example: Public
, Friends
).
5.
Tap Share Now

When you share a photo or video to your story
, it will be available to your selected audience for 24 hours. You can revisit your stories in your story archive
.
To share to your story:
Tap
Add to story
at the top of your Feed.
Add your photo or video. Tap
Camera
to take a new photo or video, or choose a photo or video from your camera roll.
Below Your Story
in the bottom left, tap
to change the audience for your story (example: Public
, Friends
).
Tap Share Now

When you add a photo or video to your Facebook story, it can be seen across both Facebook and Messenger. You can always control who can see your story
.
If you give Facebook permission to access your device's camera roll, we collect metadata in or about the media (such as the date and time of the content) to enable features like reminding you when you have new photos you can upload.

When I share something to my story on Facebook, where does it appear?
When you share something to your story, it can appear in a number of places, such as:
At the top of Facebook Feed
: Your story will appear at the top of your friends' or followers'
Feed on Facebook. At the top of your own Feed, your story will be the first story in this section.
At the top of Messenger
: Your story will appear in a row at the top of your Messenger inbox.
In Feed
: Your story may appear in your friends’ or followers’ Feed. If they stop to view, react or reply to your story, you’ll be able to tell that they viewed it.
Your stories will be visible to your selected audience
for 24 hours
. Any photos or videos you add to your story on Facebook will also appear in your story on Messenger.
Note: If you share your Instagram story to Facebook, it will also appear as a story at the top of your Feed in Facebook, in the Messenger app and it may appear in your friends’ or followers’ Feed. Keep in mind that any Instagram story you share to Facebook and Messenger will use your existing story privacy settings you've chosen in the Facebook or Messenger app.

To reply or react to someone's story:

At the top of your Feed, tap a story you'd like to view.
2.
From there, you can:
Send a reply
: Tap Reply...
at the bottom of the story.
Send a reaction
: Tap an emoji in the bottom right. Swipe to the right to see all emoji reactions you can send.
Note: When you reply to someone's story, your reply can only be seen by you and the story owner.

Anything you add to your story
will appear on Facebook and Messenger, and will be shared with the same audience across both apps.
You can always control who you share your story with, and you can change these settings anytime.
To change your story privacy settings
:

Add a photo or video
to share to your story.
2.

, then select your audience:
Public
: If you choose Public
, the story will be visible to anyone on Messenger or Facebook.
Friends
: If you choose Friends
, the story will be visible to your Facebook friends.
Custom
: If you choose Custom
, the story will be visible to only those whom you select.

To hide your story from specific people
:

Add a photo or video
to share to your story.

Tap to select the people you'd like to hide your story from.

When you share a photo or video to your story
, you can always check to see who has viewed it. Only you are able to see who has viewed your story.
To see who has viewed your story:
1.
In the Stories
section at the top of your Feed, tap Your Story
.
2.
Tap
in the bottom left of any photo or video in your story to see who has viewed your story. If you don't see this, no one has viewed your story yet.

When looking at the list of your story viewers, keep in mind:
Your Facebook friends who have viewed your story will be listed first.
If your story privacy settings allow Messenger connections
, the names of your connections will show up below your list of Facebook friends.
If your story privacy is set to Public
, you'll be able to see the number of followers
who have viewed your story, but not specific follower names.
You can change your story privacy settings

To add music to your story
, log into the Facebook app for iOS or Android. Adding music to your story isn't available for everyone at this time.
When you share a photo or video to your story on Facebook, you may be able to add a clip of a song that will play during your story. You may also see the option to add music lyrics for select songs.
To add music to your story
:
1.
Open the Facebook app for iOS or Android.
2.
Tap
Create story
at the top of your Feed.
3.
At the top of the screen, swipe to the right and tap
Music
.
4.
Tap to select a song. If you want to display music lyrics, select a song with the Lyrics
label next to it.
5.
Tap
to open the music editor.
6.
Drag the slider left or right to select a clip from the song, then tap Done
.
7.
Tap to select a display style (example: Aa
) then tap Done
. You can choose music lyrics if they're available for your selected song, or different sticker formats with the song name and artist.
8.
The song will appear on your story. You can tap to change the style, tap and hold to move it, or use two fingers to rotate it or change the size. To remove the song, drag it to
at the bottom of the screen.
9.
Tap the circle at the right of the screen (example:
) to change the background or add a photo or video from your camera roll.
10.
Tap Share
(Android) or Share to story
(iOS).
At this time, music can't be added to text stories.
Note: If music rights change on Facebook, and you've added a song to your story that Meta no longer has the rights to, your story will be muted or blocked from being viewed by other people. Other photos and videos that don’t have the music won’t be affected. Learn more on the Meta Business Help Center.

When you mute a story from a person or page, their story will no longer appear at the top of your Feed. Only you can see when you mute or unmute someone's story.

next to the name of the person or page.
Keep in mind that muting someone's story is different from unfriending
or unfollowing
them. When you mute someone's story, you will still remain friends with them, and you'll still see their posts in your Feed.

, you can report it:

At the top of your Feed, go to the Stories
section and tap to open the story.
2.
Tap to find the photo or video you want to report.

Click Find support or report story
, then follow the on-screen instructions.
