Charlotte will host an international friendly match at Bank of America Stadium this summer between Real Madrid and Chelsea. One of the winningest teams in Europe, 14-time Champions League title winners Real Madrid will take on two-time Champions League winners and six-time Premier League champions, Chelsea, on August 6 at Bank of America Stadium. Chelsea will return to Charlotte for the first time since their 2022 friendly against Charlotte FC, when Charlotte defeated the Blues 5-3 on penalty kicks.
The match is a part of the Soccer Champions Tour that features five clubs playing six matches in major markets across the country this summer including FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester City.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Soccer Champions Tour to Uptown Charlotte this summer,” said Charlotte FC President Joe LaBue in a press release. “One of our core objectives will always be about growing the game and Charlotte’s reputation as a soccer city. Real Madrid and Chelsea are undeniably two of the most recognizable brands in the world with Charlotte serving as center stage on August 6.”
The match between Real Madrid and Chelsea will follow Copa America 2024 as another major soccer event taking place in Charlotte this year. Presale will start on March 25 and tickets available to the public beginning March 27 .
