Rodeo Burlap and Deco Mesh Wreath

I am wreath obsessed. They are one of my favorite things to make. Not only are they simple but there’s so much you can do with wreaths creative wise. So when I found Deco Mesh on sale I knew I finally wanted to make a Rodeo themed Deco Mesh and Burlap Wreath.
However I wanted to give the Rodeo Deco Mesh Wreath to my Mother – In – Law who loves country decor but not the glitz and glam of Dolly Parton. So I knew there couldn’t be rhinestones or fringe and the colors needed to be muted.

But how do you keep a Deco Mesh Wreath from being too blingy? I kept the colors muted by using cardboard stars that matched the burlap with a light spritz of gold glitter spray paint. 
Then I made my kids mad. I “borrowed” on of their plastic horseshoes from their horseshoe game and painted it. The world ended and there was gnashing of teeth. The kids got mad. So mad over something that they haven’t even touched in months! So now I’m on the lookout for a new plastic horseshoe.
And then there’s the final touch…. the metal ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby. Believe it or not metal ribbon can really cut you. It’s straight up gangsta. Be very careful if you use it for any projects but it made this project pop so well that I don’t regret it. It’s impossible to see in the photos but it has a pressed tin pattern on it and is just dreamy up close. I’m interested in seeing what happens to it when it’s exposed to the (covered) elements. It it rusts or patina’s I’m going to be in vintage rodeo heaven.
That’s it folks. Now I have this gift for my Mother-in-law that I know she’ll love.
