easy glitter ornaments that you can make

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… OK So maybe not here in Houston. Right now it’s just a sloppy mess of dark gray skies on 70 degree days. But Christmas will be here before we know it and DIY Christmas ornament swaps will pop up on your calendar any minute now.

I know that everyone grumbles when Christmas appears at the craft stores months in advance but the truth is that it takes time to make Christmas crafts if you want them done for the holiday season. There’s nothing worse than running out of time to finish a Christmas themed craft and having to pack it away, half done, with all your other decorations.

Trust me, I have a whole box of halfway completed Christmas crafts and DIY ornaments.

Even though it’s not Halloween just yet, it’s a great time to start thinking about Christmas crafting, especially ornaments since you want them ready to go on your tree the day you put it up. (Which for me, might be the day after Halloween – don’t judge.)

These are all ornaments that I’ve made tutorials for in the past. Simply follow the link to be taken to the instructions that will show you how to make them for yourself.

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Burlap Christmas Ornament by Clumsy Crafter

Burlap Candy Cane Ornaments – I love these because they have the farmhouse / rustic touch but still give a little pop of color. If your tree this year is going to be Fixer Upper style, you need to make these.

Homemade Star Wars ornaments made from cinnamon dough

Star Wars Ornaments – Use the force to make these simple cinnamon scented ornaments. We’ve had these for years and each time I pull them out of the storage box, still smelling like cinnamon, they make me smile.

Easy Christmas Ornament - Wood Slice Snowman Ornament

Snowman Wood Slice Ornament – I love this little guy. He’s so cheery. If you are scared to paint or think that you can’t make this – you’re wrong. If you can make dots, I’ll show you how to transform them into this happy little guy.

easy handmade christmas ornament bottle brush trees

Sweet Christmas Diorama Ornament – I love this one. I can’t wait to get it out of the storage box this year. It was so much fun to come up with a fun winter scene and turn it into an ornament.

Melted Crayon Ornaments – These are gorgeous. No one walking into your home would ever think that these were made with crayons. Add a vinyl monogram to these ornaments and someone will think you spent a lot more money than you really did.

Bonus – DIY Glitter Ornaments

using polycrylic to make glitter ornaments

Making your own glitter ornaments is really fun and you get jaw dropping results that you can personalize like I did with these Mermaid Glitter Ornaments.

One of the questions I get the most when making these ornaments is which works better to make glitter ornaments, polycrylic or floor cleaner? I tested both and outlined the differences for you in this post – What Works Better for Glitter Ornaments, Polycrylic or Floor Polish?
