For Dartmouth alumni, the journey doesn’t end at graduation. There are many opportunities to maintain an ongoing partnership with our alma mater—especially when it comes to career support. 

Whether you are a recent graduate seeking a first job, a mid-career professional looking to develop stronger skills, or someone looking to make a career transition or return to work, Dartmouth offers a wealth of resources to support alumni. But to take full advantage of these alumni benefits, it’s important to understand what the institution offers and where to find the help you’re seeking.  

Let’s take a look at the many ways Dartmouth resources empower alumni to thrive in their professional lives at every career stage. 

Handshake

Handshake is a platform to help students find jobs. An impressive 80% of students who share their interests in their Handshake profiles are contacted by at least one recruiter. 

All students automatically receive a Dartmouth Handshake account as soon as they start classes, giving them access to job and internship recommendations based on their profile. The Center for Professional Development (CPD) also uses Handshake to send out crucial information about special events, deadlines, and Dartmouth-specific opportunities that match student interests.  

Make the Most of Handshake 

While exploring Handshake , students can: 

  • Upload a resume for employers 

  • Find CPD resources customized for them,, including resume templates, networking advice, and industry-specific resources 

  • Register to attend info sessions and events, CPD workshops, alumni panels, and career fairs 

  • Research thousands of employers and “like” or follow interesting opportunities 

  • Identify and reach out to employer contacts and apply for jobs or internships 

  • Participate in the CPD’s Recruiting Program, exclusively for Dartmouth students 

Center for Professional Development 

The Center for Professional Development is available to help the Dartmouth undergraduate community make the most of resources offered on campus for current students and alumni—specifically young alumni, who are described as undergraduate alumni within five years of graduation. Through the CPD, young alums can access: 

  • Valuable one-on-one coaching 

  • Resume help and tips 

  • A guide for considering graduate school 

  • The latest job and industry trends and data 

  • And more 

Employers Recruit for Jobs and Internships 

Looking for talented Dartmouth students or graduates? CPD is the right place for employers looking to hire Dartmouth students or young alums for both internships and employment. By partnering with CPD, recruiters and hiring professionals can post jobsand engage with Dartmouth students both virtually and in-person. A diverse and impressive list of companies have worked with CPD to access the highly qualified pool of Dartmouth students and young alumni.  

CPD has compiled dozens of resources to support the newest members of the Dartmouth alumni community. Those who graduated within the past five years should be sure to fully explore everything CPD has to offer.  

Dartmouth Connect 

Wondering where to turn for help if you graduated more than five years ago? Dartmouth Connect has got you covered.   

Dartmouth Connect is an exclusive online networking platform designed for Dartmouth alumni from ’round the girdled Earth. Alumni and community members have access to connections, career resources, and groups designed for specific career interests.  

Who can use Dartmouth Connect? 

Dartmouth Connect is available to:  

  • Dartmouth alumni—undergraduate alums as well as graduates of Tuck, Thayer, and Guarini 

  • Faculty and staff—including those from the undergraduate College, Tuck, Thayer, and Guarini 

  • Current students

There are other resources available for the Dartmouth community to network, find Dartmouth-owned small businesses, and more. These include:  

  • Future of Work Events: These opportunities offer industry specific and timely career advice held around the country and on campus 

  • Admissions Ambassadors: While this isn’t a traditional career resource, acting as an alumni interviewer is a great way to sharpen your own interview skills—as an interviewer and an interviewee 

  • Small Business Directory: Find businesses owned by Dartmouth alums around the world 

  • LinkedIn Group: A private group for Dartmouth alumni to network on LinkedIn 

  • Interest-based alumni groups created around specific industries
