Canceled: Know Your Tools: Zotero
Event box
In this workshop you will learn about citation managers and their role in saving your time, become familiar with the features of Zotero, and get started with your own profile. Feel free to bring your examples and questions!
Reference management tools are essential to successful research. As many sources are fully digital, having a tool to help you annotate and track your materials is key to saving you time. Whether you edit citations for another researcher, manage a lab group library, or gather citations for your own work, Zotero is a powerful, open-source reference manager that will most likely work for you. Best of all it is free!
Zotero is compatible with Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Linux. If you are comfortable installing the software on your own, I recommend downloading it before the session. If you are working off of iOS, please download it through the app store.
If you are planning to attend the session on Zotero please complete the following steps if time allows:
- Navigate to Zotero.org, select download and install Zotero on your local computer.
- On that same page, install the Zotero Connector for your browser. Note that if you are using Safari, it should install automatically when you download Zotero.
- While on Zotero.org, navigate to “Log In” at the top right of the page. On the Login page, select “Register for a free account” and create your Zotero account using your Dartmouth email (for access to free, unlimited cloud storage!). Record this log in as it will be useful later.
We will go over some of the set-up in the demo, but there are also instructions here .
