Staff Meeting 4/8/13

Nikki and Angela began by giving out reminders for 13X elections and full-year positions.

Andy then informed the staff about the Individual Giving Campaign (April 15-May 12), a Mother’s Day Tribute Card Campaign that involves a $5 match for early donations.

He then sent out a Google Doc so staff can sign up and post the names of people they’ve contacted for donations.

Today, Sam presented a current event: the first private newspapers for sale in Burma for the first time in 50 years last week!

Ming and Aditi ran ghU and discussed the health care delivery here and in other countries, showed our health spending is one and a half as much as any other country, and shared a couple videos about the benefits/drawbacks of socialized medicine in the UK/the healthcare system in Singapore

Finally, Katelyn and Leigh Ann once again led campaigns. We will have our first crepes sale this Thursday! Also, we decided not to do Beirut this term because it is not good to move forward with things that don’t have a large consensus (particularly on ideological grounds). Pros: huge potential for moneymaking, minimal input but high output, mobilizes campus. Cons: lacked consensus, concern over association with alcohol.

However, we’re going to move forward with tie dye and ice cream!

Lastly, Leigh Ann suggested another campaign: raffling off 2 sets of MCAT materials, 3 reviews/proofreads of Personal Statements, and 1 private advising session with GlobeMed seniors going to med school. It would be $10 per raffle ticket.

Finally, for cupcakes at Green Key, Ellen and Delia will be our campaign team leaders!
