CNC vacuum table or vacuum chuck for vacuum workholding of small flat parts and sheet material for milling applications on DATRON high speed CNC machining centers

Vacuum Tables

The VacuMate™ from Datron is designed to swiftly and efficiently secure flat workpieces to the bed of a machining system. Thin stock, which could be secured only with great difficulties before, is now secured literally within seconds. Quickly secure plastic foils and sheet material. A vacuum pump provides vacuum power for the system to work. A vacuum table features airflow-optimized vacuum ports, with recessed vacuum chambers, to provide superior vacuum distribution. A low cost air-permeable substrate serves as a sacrificial vacuum diffuser, allowing the cutter to machine through the workpiece, without cutting into the replacable aluminum top.

The QuadraMate consists of four 12” x 18” x ¾” vacuum chuck segments secured to a 5/8” aluminum sub-plate that can be secured to the machining table by either screws or vacuum. The four combined chucks have over five thousand micro holes drilled, with a slight counter-bore or cup to distribute the vacuum to a broader area. This system fits on M8 and larger machines and is ideal for batch machining or milling larger parts from sheet material.

Vacuum table with dense hole pattern to secure the smallest parts during milling.
When to go “DH”. The
Dense Hole Pattern option was engineered specifically to hold extremely small parts that exhibit minimal surface area. The individual cups and air holes on the vacuum table are in closer proximity to one another to insure that maximum suction occurs directly beneath the workpiece. Parts with larger surface areas do not require DH models or our larger pumps.
