Antalya has been selected as the host city for the 20th edition of Routes Europe, a leading aviation event focused on strengthening air service connectivity across the continent. The announcement was made on 4 March 2026 during ITB Berlin, with the event set to take place in 2027 and hosted by Fraport TAV Antalya Airport.
Located on Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast, Antalya is one of the region’s most prominent leisure destinations and a vital market for airlines during both peak and shoulder seasons. The city recently recorded its highest-ever visitor numbers for January, reflecting growing demand beyond the traditional summer period as its tourism offering expands to include cultural, adventure and eco-focused experiences.
Antalya Airport, operated by a joint venture between TAV Airports and Fraport, is Türkiye’s second busiest airport for international traffic. Following an €865 million expansion completed in April 2025, the airport more than doubled its terminal and airside capacity, increasing annual passenger capacity to 65 million. In 2025, the airport handled a record 39.2 million passengers, reinforcing its importance as a key gateway for Türkiye’s tourism industry.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, travel and tourism in Türkiye are expected to contribute โบ7 trillion ($160 billion) to the national economy by 2035, representing nearly 13% of GDP and supporting 3.8 million jobs.
Hosting Routes Europe 2027 will provide Antalya Airport with a valuable opportunity to engage with airline partners, highlight the strength of the Antalya market and support the sustainable development of new air services.
