Officially opened in March 2017, Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou tragically suffered damage after the 2017 earthquake that occurred just 4 months later on August 8, 2017 in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou County, Ngawa Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China.
The destructive earthquake was registered at magnitude 7.0 and killed at least 25 people in the region. The hotel is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jiuzhaigou which literally means “nine-village valley.” It takes its name from the nine Tibetan villages along its length.
It was announced today the Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou is set to reopen to guests tomorrow on April 28 following 7 months of post-quake reconstruction efforts.
