Vancouver, Canada was the inaugural North American destination for Hong Kong Airlines, when the carrier launched that flight in June of 2017. The route has consistently demonstrated strong popularity among travelers.
But in 2019, Hong Kong Airlines has officially declared the termination the Hong Kong Vancouver flight that was their final long-haul route. The carrier announced that effective February 2020, Vancouver would be removed from its flight schedules, with bookings ceasing in early December. At that time, this decision marked yet another reduction in the airline’s operations, which has faced numerous route cuts, raising concerns from the Chinese government regarding the carrier’s long-term sustainability.
Recently, Hong Kong Airlines announced the resumption of direct flights to Vancouver, Canada, starting on 18 January 2025. The service, operating twice a week, will offer enhanced travel choices for passengers journeying between Hong Kong and Vancouver, as well as for those connecting through Hong Kong.
According to Hong Kong Airlines Chairman Yan Bo, this route will enhance the carrier’s Asian network and provide international travelers with a wider range of convenient travel options, linking Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, Oceania, and North America.
