According to the International Air Transport Association ( IATA ), the airline passenger market experienced unprecedented demand levels in 2024.
For the full year of 2024, total traffic, as measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs), experienced a 10.4% increase compared to 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels from 2019 by 3.8%. Total capacity, indicated by available seat kilometers (ASK), rose by 8.7% during the same period. The overall load factor achieved a record high of 83.5% for the year.
International traffic for the full year 2024 saw a significant increase of 13.6% relative to 2023, with capacity also rising by 12.8%.
In the domestic sector, full-year traffic increased by 5.7% compared to the previous year, while capacity grew by 2.5%.
December 2024 concluded the year on a robust note, with overall demand increasing by 8.6% year-on-year and capacity expanding by 5.6%. International demand rose by 10.6%, while domestic demand increased by 5.5%. The load factor for December reached 84%, marking a record for that month.
