The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) issued this statement: “FICCI is deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected demise of Dr. Ankur Bhatia, Member, FICCI, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Committee and Director, Bird Group. A dynamic young man, he was truly passionate about the tourism Industry. This is a huge loss for the industry.”
This correspondent had known Ankur for over 20 years in a professional and personal capacity and always found him articulate, warm, and keen to play his part in any field he was involved in.
He was one of the few with a background in technology and science. With Amadeus, he added a new dimension to civil aviation and airline bookings.
Dr. Bhatia will be missed by all for his many qualities of head and heart.
His family has long had a close connection with travel and tourism in India .
