Airports and hospitals in Cuba have electricity due to their backup system, but almost everyone, including many resort hotels, operates today without power.
Electric crews had been working all day to restore power to the 10 million people of Cuba. This was the fifth power blackout this year, according to a statement by the Ministry of Energy.
There has been a total disconnection of the electric system, that is known tp be frail and outdated. Earlier this week, an outage hit Cuba’s eastern region, leaving people from Las Tunas to Guantánamo in the dark for several hours.
In February, the government suspended classes and work activities for two days due to a shortage in electricity generation.
