Airport fees increased for domestic and international flights
The rate for cabotage flights went from US$6.05 to US$14.50, whereas the rate for international flights decreased from US$18.00 to US$29.00.
Aerolíneas Argentinas will lease 10 BoeingsAerolineas Argentinas will lease ten Boeing 737 airplanes to renew its fleet, after the negotiations with Airbus did not reach a result. The airplanes will be leased to General Electric and the first one of them will arrive to Argentina in April. The new planes will be used to cover domestic routes as well as other destinations in South America.
SOL will start operations to CordobaSOL will start operating to Río Cuarto, located in the province of Córdoba, starting the second week of March with three weekly flights from Buenos Aires and the possibility of starting to fly to the city of Olavarria (Buenos Aires province).

CHILE

The sites that are presented in the guide and are more distinguished are the world’s driest desert, the amazing Andes mountain range, enigmatic islands and winding hills, as well as the sites that show the Chilean heritage like Valparaíso, Chiloe, Rapa Nui, Sewell, Humberstone and Santa Laura.
BRAZIL
EL AL will start flights to Latin America
El Al will start its direct flights to Brazil in May, with connections to Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Ecuador, which the President of the company mentioned as “a bridge between Latin America and the Holy Land”. The first flight will be done on May 2nd and there will be three weekly flights from Israel.
BOLIVIA
BOA has two airplanes and is waiting for a third one
Boliviana de Aviacion expects the arrival of a third airplane in May. It is also waiting for the license that would be given to it in order to start operations in Bolivian skies. The two airplanes, which are Boeing 737-200 and are currently located in Cochabamba, have a capacity of 138 spaces, all in Economy class.
PERU
Peru Rail is going to offer a new route starting in April 1st in its Backpacker service
Starting April 1st, the Backpacker service (train 33 inbound and train 34 return) from Peru Rail will change its journey and its new route will be the station of Poroy-Machupicchu-Poroy. This change is brought about as a result of the constant request from the residents of the areas between Picchu Alto and Tica-Tica and also from the authorities from Cusco who need to relief the traffic from the Historical Centre to the city.
The Huaca Chotuna Museum included in the touristic offer in Lambayeque\There are works being done in order to implement the Huaca Chotuna Museum in order to include it in the touristic circuit in Lambayeque. The museum will revolve around the legend of Naylamp, and also present the remains found in the archaeological centre. In this way, this museum becomes part of the high number of museums that are already included in the touristic offer of Lambayeque, like the Royal Tombs of Sipan, the Bruning National Museum and the recently inaugurated Huaca Rajada Sipan, among others.
ECUADOR
Decameron is building its first resort in the country
Decameron continues the construction of its first tourist location in Ecuador, the el Royal Decameron Mompiche Beach Resort, a four star hotel, located in the coastal province of Esmeraldas. The construction of this resort started in May, 2008, and the company plans to inaugurate it in November of this year.
COLOMBIA
LAN will fly to Cartagena
LAN will start flying to Cartagena in April 29th, when the inaugural flight from LAN Peru arrives to the Rafael Nuñez International Airport. The tourism authorities are focusing on increasing between 15 % and 18 % the arrival of foreign tourists this year.
GUATEMALA
Tourists could pay tax to visit protected areas
Authorities from Guatemala are analyzing the possibility of charging a tax to tourists who visit areas under ecological protection. This measure tries to generate more control over the natural reserves and obtain funds for conservation programs.
REPUBLIC DOMINICA
Air Dominicana obtains permission to start flying
The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation approved the certification to enable Air Dominicana to start flying, to the USA as well as other destinies.
MEXICO
A new airport will be opened in Monterrey
The Mexican operatior Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte plans to begin operations of a US $ 70 million terminal in the city of Monterrey in September. Aeromexico and Delta will transfer its operations to the new Terminal B, which will have a maximum capacity of up to 2 million passengers per year.
