The Indian traveler is getting more experiential and going to newer places, and the countries they visit should be prepared for this. This was the message that came out at the India Travel Summit 2017 today on September 26.
Sheema Vohra, who heads Brand USA in India, said that the agents must educate travelers to go beyond the gateways. Events like music festivals should get attention from Indian tourists. Christine Mukerji of the Austria Tourism Board said that it was important to know the preferences of Indian travelers and much attention was being given to this at the event. Cycling tours – with vegetarian cuisine provided – are gaining in popularity, as are skiing attractions.
Representatives of the USA embassy spoke of the efforts to ease the visa regime, including a 10-year visa and visit, to embassy waiver programs for certain classes of travelers. The Czech Republic has also made visa issue easier for Indian tourists.
