Following the Hamas atrocities of October 7 perpetrated against Israel, the ensuing war in Gaza has elicited strong emotion and discussion within the Jewish community on strengthening Israeli security, safely returning the hostages, and conditions for an eventual ceasefire. Each of us has a unique view of the relationship between these fraught goals. Some of us prioritize one goal over another. Others view the goals as inextricably linked. Regardless of viewpoint, we are all deeply affected. We can find community in getting together to be heard and share our ideas in a safe, polite space without judgment or debate.
Kol Yisrael is hosting a moderated discussion. We will begin promptly (please arrive a few minutes early to take your seat) at 11:00 with our simple ground rules for safe discussion. The moderator will ensure that anyone who wishes to speak has the opportunity and that we maintain a welcoming atmosphere.

Standing Together is a grassroots movement mobilizing Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel in pursuit of peace, equality, and social and climate justice.
This is how they describe themselves: While the minority who benefit from the status quo of occupation and economic inequality seek to keep us divided, we know that we — the majority — have far more in common than that which sets us apart. When we stand together, we are strong enough to fundamentally alter the existing socio-political reality. The future that we want — peace and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, full equality for all citizens, and true social, economic, and environmental justice — is possible. Because where there is struggle, there is hope. This program is with Kol Yisrael and made possible by the New Israel Fund. Dessert will be hosted by Ellen Bob and David Waksberg.
