School Year Online Course Information

Because your student has registered for a course with the FCPS Online Campus, we must have your permission for them to use our digital resources. Our teachers use a variety of online tools to support learning, communication, and collaboration with students and families.

Please complete the Parental Consent for Digital Resources form as soon as possible. Your child will not be able to access these resources until we have received your consent. Students are expected to submit all assignments on time and meet class deadlines, so it is essential to submit the form before the start of the course .

If you have questions or concerns about the digital resources being used this year, please contact your student’s teacher.

You must turn on your webcam for your weekly synchronous class with the Online Campus.

All Courses

• Email: All FCPS messages will be sent to your @fcpsschools.net email. This is the safest way to communicate.
• Reliable Internet: See your base school SBTS for information on affordable internet access.
• Your browser must have JavaScript and third-party cookies enabled to access certain course materials and digital resources.

Health & PE 9 and Health & PE 10 Requirement

Students enrolled in Health & PE 9 or Health & PE 10 must have access to a smartphone to download a free app and/ or access to a fitness tracker for recording heart rate. This is a required part of the course and will be used for specific assignments and assessments.

For FCPS students, we highly recommend using your FCPS device for your Online Campus course . If you are taking a summer course, you must keep your current FCPS device to use during the summer. For students new to FCPS, contact your new FCPS school to check out a device.

Using Personally Owned Laptops, Chromebooks, or Macbooks (not issued by FCPS): to take an online course, your device must meet these basic technology requirements:

• Access to:
  • FCPS Schoology LMS
  • Your FCPS Google Apps for Education account
  • Zoomwith a working headset and microphone . Test your setup using the Zoom Meeting Test .
    • Zoom Access:Students cannotlog into Zoom directly.
      1. Sign into Chrome using your @fcpsschools.net email.
      2. Join Zoom classes through the Zoom button in your Schoology course menu (bottom-left).
  • Additional Software like:
    • Google Chrome web browser
    • Adobe Reader
    • For AP World Language courses:You need Audacity® for audio recording. After installing Audacity, download and install the Lame mp3 encoder .
    • Check your course syllabusfor any extra software needed for your online class.
• Other Required Tools:
  • A scanner, scanner app, or the Schoology Mobile App
  • Windows 10 or newer, MAC 10.6 or newer, or Chrome OS 138 or newer**

** Note:FCPS does not provide tech support for personal devices, but you can use your personal device with outside support.

If you're using an FCPSOn device, required software is already installed. If anything is missing, talk to the School-Based Technology Specialist at your school.

Your online course is hosted in the FCPS Schoology Learning Management System (LMS). However, you won’t be able to access it until your Online Campus teacher contacts you.

The best browser for the Schoology LMS is Google Chrome. If you have issues, try switching to a different browser to see if the problem is browser-related.

• FCPS Students:Your User ID is your student ID, and your password is the same one you used last school year.
• Non-FCPS Students:After your registration is processed and courses are created in the FCPS system, you will receive a student ID.
• An Online Campus staff member will email this information before the class begins.
• Be sure to reply to this email and confirm your Schoology LMS access as soon as you receive their message.

• Log in at https://lms.fcps.edu/ .
• Your user IDis your FCPS student ID only.

• To change your password, go to Student Password Change .
• If you forget your password, visit Student Password Recovery .
• Still need help?Submit the Student Support Request form . You will need your name, student ID, and school name. Use the drop-down to Fix My: Account/Password .

All Online Campus courses use FCPS Google Accounts for Education.

• Access your FCPS Google Account at: http://www.fcpsschools.net/
• Your emailis [email protected] , example: [email protected] .
• Your passwordis the same FCPS password for all sites.

• You must check your email multiple times a day.
• You won't turn in assignments through email—all work must be submitted directly in your FCPS Schoology LMS course.

• To change your password, go to Student Password Change .
• If you forget your password, visit Student Password Recovery .
• Still need help?Submit the Student Support Request form . You will need your name, student ID, and school name. Use the drop-down to Fix My: Account/Password .
