Second Grade

In second grade, students deepen their understanding across subjects while learning to think more critically and express their ideas clearly. Instruction encourages curiosity, collaboration, and the application of skills to real-world situations.

Language ArtsStudents read a variety of texts with increasing independence, focusing on comprehension, main ideas, and text features. Writing includes narratives, opinions, and informational pieces.

MathematicsSecond grade math builds understanding of place value, addition and subtraction strategies, measurement, data representation, and early foundations of multiplication.

ScienceStudents explore life cycles, weather patterns, matter, and simple physical science concepts through hands-on investigations.

Social StudiesInstruction includes local history, geography, community economics, and cultural understanding.
