Everyone has a place in our story.

Since 2017, Virginia Ice Theatre’s Adaptive Team has been transforming lives both on and off the ice. What began with just eight skaters and eight mentors has grown into a vibrant program defined by creativity, inclusion, and opportunity. From celebrating Mickey’s birthday in their first production to skating through Broadway-inspired stories, treasure-hunting adventures, and powerful themes of self-discovery, each season brings a new journey for these athletes.

2025-2026 skating season, we have 11 skaters in the Adaptive team, representing the community in the U.S. Figure Skating’s National Theatre on Ice Championships,  traveling each June to compete alongside programs from across the country. In April 2024, they reached an extraordinary milestone — representing the adaptive discipline on the world stage in Bordeaux, France, where they became the first adaptive Theatre on Ice team in history invited to such a prestigious international event.

Charlotte Aloisi, 9th grader at James Madison High School, Charlotte Brander, a senior at Robinson Secondary School, Josie Crosby, 3rd grader at Mason Crest Elementary School, Dashiell Elder, at Chantilly High School, Emma Escano, 9th grader at Centreville High School are our current adaptive skaters in FCPS.  We also have several mentors who skate alongside individual skaters to support including Sujitha Modhukuru, at Oakton High School, Miranda Wright at Thoreau Middle School and Amelia Crosby, 6th grader at Mantua Elementary School.

This season, the Adaptive Team returns with a new production centered on the wonder of magic — inspired by the joy, imagination, and sense of possibility they bring to the ice. Their performance celebrates not just illusion and spectacle, but the very real magic created when athletes are given the opportunity to shine.

Their performance will be featured at  Soirée on Ice, Virginia Ice Theatre’s annual showcase, which brings together all of the organization’s Theatre on Ice teams along with professional skaters from across the United States and around the world. The event promises a two-hour spectacle highlighting the artistry, athleticism, and storytelling that make Theatre on Ice a truly unique sport.

Community support makes programs like this possible. Sponsorships help provide ice time, costumes, travel opportunities, and coaching resources that allow adaptive athletes to continue growing and sharing their talents.

We invite the community to join us for this inspiring evening of performance and celebration on  March 15, 2026 at 6:00 PMat the  Prince William Ice Center. Come witness the magic, support these remarkable athletes, and help ensure that inclusive opportunities on the ice continue to thrive.
