Family Liaison

The Family Liaison, serves as a link between our families and our school. She facilitates family-school communication, which empowers families to become more active partners in their children’s education.

The liaison works in our school and community to help families get the information and assistance they need to support their children at home and to ensure their academic success. The family liaison represents a variety of cultures, languages, and races and is one component in our school’s effort to enhance family involvement.

Meet Island Creek's Family Liaison

My name is Amy Garcia and I am very excited to be the new Family Liaison at Island Creek Elementary School. While I am new to Island Creek, I have several years of experience as a Family Liaison in Fairfax County and have a background in teaching. I have three students in Fairfax County Public Schools and love this school system and community!

I can help answer questions about Island Creek policies and procedures, SIS Parent VUE, Here Comes the Bus, Schoology, Fairfax County Public School programs and services, tutoring, early education programs, and more. I can also help you fill out forms and arrange for a translator if you need one.  If your family needs help connecting with community resources for student vaccinations, healthcare, childcare, employment services, English classes, supplemental food, clothes or school supplies, please let me know. If you have a question and aren’t sure where to start, please don’t hesitate to reach out, I would love to hear from you.
