After School Specialist

Late Buses

  • Late buses are provided on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Late buses will depart Thoreau at approximately  4:40-5:00 pm . Times are subject to change.
  • Late bus runs differ from the morning and afternoon runs.  There are fewer buses and stops.

  • A list of late buses and their stops can be found in the front lobby of the school, by the cafeteria, and below.

After-School Specifics

  • AFTER-SCHOOL CONSENT FORM
    • Must be completed for all Thoreau students, regardless of intent to participate
    • Students cannot stay after-school until this form is submitted
  • The After-School Program is divided up into three sessions.  Students are not permitted to leave school grounds before or between sessions and then return to school.
    • Session 1: 2:30-3:30 (academics, homework, enrichment activities, academically based clubs/activities)
    • Session 2: 3:35-4:35 (sports, art, gaming, etc. clubs/activities)
    • Dismissal: 4:40-5:00 (intramurals, homework, socializing, dismissal)
  • There is currently no fee for the after-school program.
  • Most clubs are open enrollment and do not require a pre-registration.
  • All students are required to sign in to the after-school attendance program at the start of each session
  • Discuss your child’s after-school plans every morning to prevent any confusion in the afternoon.
  • Students should make arrangements before the end of the school day to stay after with a specific teacher.  This will ensure that the teacher will be available.
  • Encourage your student to get involved in as many activities as possible. After-school is a great time to get extra academic help and/or enrichment, make new friends, complete homework, etc.
  • Every student must submit the online After-School Registration google form, which will be posted on the Thoreau Schoology page under After-School in September.

 Activity Schedule

  • Weekly activity lists & schedules can be found on Thoreau’s Schoology site under the After-School page along with any announcements, updates, or cancellations. The list will also be updated on the TVs throughout the school, in the weekly Thoreau Matters newsletter, an posted on the home page of the website.
