The Region 3 Leadership Team is pleased to announce that Dr. LaChelle Williams has been named the new principal of Woodley Hills Elementary School.

Dr. Williams began her career as a classroom teacher in the state of Florida in Broward County Public Schools. She proceeded to teach in Douglasville, Georgia, and Washington, D.C., before accepting her first position in Fairfax County Public Schools in 2012 at Rose Hill Elementary School.   She went on to serve as an Advanced Academics Resource Teacher at Cameron ES, Fort Belvoir Upper School, and Woodlawn ES before being promoted to assistant principal at Stratford Landing ES in 2019.  For the last year, she has served as the assistant principal at Whitman Middle School.

As the assistant principal at Stratford Landing, she established programs for students and professional development for teachers that dramatically increased student enrollment and achievement in advanced math classes.  She is also credited with leading efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism and for establishing a parent-teacher equity team in partnership with the PTA.  As assistant principal at Whitman, she supervised the English and special education departments and has proven to be an effective leader for school improvement, raising SOL scores in reading and narrowing achievement and opportunity gaps for students with disabilities.

Dr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Science degree in Education Leadership from George Mason University, and a Doctorate in Education Management from Hampton University.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. LaChelle Williams as the new principal of Woodley Hills Elementary School. Her start date will be July 1, 2025.
