    • Foundations of Psychology-
      Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Forensic Psychology will be able to describe and differentiate historical and present schools of thought and acquire an understanding of theoretical perspectives in psychology. In addition, they will compare biological and psychological explanations of behavior and mental processes.Domain Description
      • Describe and differentiate schools of thought in psychology, both present and historical.
      • Apply theoretical perspectives in psychology.
      • Identify biological and psychological explanations of the brain and its functions.
    • Scientific Inquiry and Critical Thinking-
      Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Forensic Psychology will demonstrate through various activities the required knowledge for scientific inquiry and critical thought. Activities are designed for practical application not only in the classroom but also in a real world setting. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how the scientific method is applied to research in Psychology and will be competent in forming their own conclusions and critiques regarding research in the field. Students will utilize relevant technological resources in data analysis and interpretation.
      • Apply research design principles to investigate psychological hypotheses.
      • Incorporate technology to gather, analyze, and interpret psychological data.
      • Apply critical thinking skills in solving problems related to behavior and mental processes.
      • Interpret psychological research using sound scientific reasoning.
    • Ethical and Sociocultural Responsibility-
      Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Forensic Psychology will develop an awareness of professional accountability, and will have the ability to distinguish between ethical and non-ethical practices within the field of psychology. Students will have historical knowledge of the importance of ethical and culturally sensitive practices within psychology. Students will apply psychological perspectives to the study of social relationships, ethical values, prejudicial attitudes and discriminatory behavior, and sociocultural responsibility in the context of the discipline of psychology.
      • Apply ethical values and standards central to the field of psychology.
      • Identify violations of ethical values and standards within the historical context of psychology.
      • Explain causes of prejudicial attitudes and discriminatory behaviors using self-reflection as well as identification in others.
    • Personal and Professional Development-
      Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Forensic Psychology will demonstrate an understanding of their personal and professional development. Students will have tools and strategies to pursue psychology-related professions and manage their own career goals. Students will be equipped with the skills needed to work independently, to function as a member of a team, and be promoters of effective collaboration.
      • Implement strategies for self-management and self-improvement.
      • Compare career trajectories and roles in psychology-related professions.
      • Analyze independent and collaborative roles that promote effective teamwork.
      • Explain the importance of maintaining knowledge of current trends in psychology.

  • Forensic Psychology-
    Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Forensic Psychology will examine the role of Forensic Scientists in the justice and psychology fields. They will also gain a knowledge of criminological and victimological theory. They will apply theories of Psychology to better understand criminal behavior and propensity.
    • Explain the roles, responsibilities, and limitations, of Forensic Psychologists.
    • Explain how motivations, deviance, and abnormal behaviors can lead to crime.
    • Differentiate between various criminological theories.
    • Apply victim theory to explain patterns of victimization and precipitation of crime.
