Run a remediation to retry errors in an export
If any data is missing from the export, it's listed in your export report as an error. You can correct errors by running a remediation. This means the Data Export tool starts another export process to export only the missing data.
Before you begin
- You can run remediations for 20 days after an initial export is complete.
- Remediation is not available for continuous exports . The Data Export tool will retry the export during the next scheduled run.
- If you are using a customer owned bucket , do not delete the bucket until the issue has been resolved. If you contact Google Support they will need the bucket to investigate and resolve the issue.
To run a remediation:
- Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.
- Select a data export and click Actions Remediate.
- When the remediation process is complete, super admins in your organization will get an email notification.
-
The remediated data is added to a new archive .
- Review the remediated export.
- If there are still export errors after the remediation process, retry the export again. You are limited to three remediation attempts for each export.
If you are using a Google-provided Cloud Storage bucket
, exported data will still be deleted 60 days from the beginning of the export. Remediation does not refresh the data deletion timeline.
What's included in a remediated archive
A remediated archive can include the following data:
- Data that was missing because a temporary error occurred—for example, an image wasn't included in a document during export processing.
- Data a user lost access to between an admin's export attempts—for example, because their license was downgraded.
A remediated archive doesn'tinclude the following data:
- Data that was missing because of a permanent failure—for example, the user deleted or changed ownership of a document before the export process started or in between export attempts.
- Data that was previously exported, with an exception for items that are only partially exported—for example, if a document is missing an image or comment, the Data Export tool attempts to export the entire item again.
