Connect the Google Workspace app to Gemini Apps

In Gemini Apps, you can use the Google Workspace app to connect with your data in Google Workspace services to improve your productivity and streamline your workflows. With the Google Workspace app, you can ask Gemini Apps to:

• Summarize, get quick answers, and find information from Google Workspace services like Gmail, Docs, and Drive
• Add, edit, and get your tasks and reminders from Google Tasks
• Create and get your notes and lists from Google Keep
• Create & manage your events in Google Calendar

To connect Google Workspace to Gemini Apps, you need to:

• Have Keep Activity on.Gemini can’t connect to Google Workspace when this setting is off.

Important:

• For now, only some Google Workspace services are available in Live chats. Learn how to use Connected Apps in Live chats .
• Gemini Apps can hallucinate responses or provide outdated information, like from an older email when there’s a more recent one. To check the information, select and review the sources listed after the response.

1. Make sure you’re signed in to the same account you use with Google Workspace.
2. Ask the Gemini app to get information from Google Workspace.
   • Tip:Don’t paste the URL of a document or email in your prompt. To reference content in Google Workspace, use keywords from the content and specify the service or content type. To specify a Google Workspace service, enter @ and select the service.
3. If you haven’t connected Google Workspace, you’ll get the option to connect it.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Find the most recent lease agreement from my Drive and check how much the security deposit was
• Summarize a document
  • Find my resume titled June 2023 from my drive and summarize it to a short paragraph personal statement
• Simplify and organize information
  • Find the doc from Ashley about the neighborhood clean-up project and summarize the proposal for me in 5 bullets

For work and school accounts, the Google Workspace administrator must first enable the ability to connect with apps. Learn how to connect to apps in Gemini with a work or school account .

Required settings in Gmail might be turned off.For Gemini Apps to connect with Google Workspace, Smart features in other Google products must be turned on in your Gmail settings. If you turn this on, reload the Gemini app and try to connect again.

Mention the Google Workspace app or a Google Workspace service in your prompt.For every new conversation, ask the Gemini app to get or add something from your personal Google Workspace explicitly. You can mention Gmail or email, Docs or documents, Drive or PDFs, events or Calendar, to-dos or Tasks, and notes or Keep in your prompt. You don’t need to do this for follow up questions in the same chat. For example:

• First prompt:Summarize my recent emails from Harper elementary school
• Next prompt:When is pajama day?

Gemini Apps can’t:

• Access comments or images in Docs or Gmail
• Access pictures and videos in your Drive
  • This includes any content that isn’t in a document, spreadsheet, presentation, or PDF
• Create, draft, or delete spreadsheets, PDFs, documents, and presentations
• Manage content in your Drive, like create folders or move content between folders
• Count items in your Drive or Gmail or tell you how much Drive or Gmail storage you have
