Adjust the "Hey Google" sensitivity of your speaker or display

Your voice assistant might activate even when you didn’t say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google.” This can happen when it detects something that sounds similar or you manually activate your device accidentally. If this happens often, you can make it less sensitive.

Also, your voice assistant might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. If this happens often, you can make it more sensitive.

This feature is available on most smart speakers and displays.
Home Admins and Members with Settings access can change the sensitivity settings for a device.
The sensitivity setting doesn’t affect which device responds when you have more than one speaker or display.

Set your device’s “Hey Google” sensitivity

Important:Adjustments made to the “Hey Google” sensitivity for a device applies to anyone who uses it.

If you use Gemini for Home voice assistant

Open the Google Home app.
At the top right, tap your Profile pictureor Initial.
Tap Home settings Gemini for Home voice assistant “Hey Google” sensitivity.
Select the device you want to change sensitivity on.
Choose how sensitive you want your voice assistant to be when it responds to you.
- To change this setting on another device, tap back, then select another device.

If you use Google Assistant

Open the Google Home app.
At the top right, tap your Profile pictureor Initial.
Tap Home settings Google Assistant “Hey Google” sensitivity.
Select the device you want to change sensitivity on.
Choose how sensitive you want your voice assistant to be when it responds to you.
- To change this setting on another device, tap back, then select another device.
