Important:Nest Aware is now Google Home Premium, a whole home paid subscription that builds on Nest's trusted security and features. It offers features like 30 or 60 day event video history, 10 day 24/7 video history, familiar face detection, AI notifications, and emergency calling for a safer home.
The new subscription also introduces features built with Gemini for effortless automations, smarter camera notifications, and a more intuitive, whole-home experience.
Google Home Premium features are different depending on the plan associated with your subscription, the devices you use, and the region your home is in.
If you use an Android device, subscribe to Google Home Premium directly in the Google Home app or through the Google Store .
To subscribe using the Google Home app:
- Open the Google Home app

- 24/7 video history for continuous recording.
- Event video history, where the camera or doorbell only records video after it detects an activity.

Important:Continuous 24/7 video history is only available for wired Google Nest cameras and doorbells. It isn’t available for Nest Doorbell (battery), even with optional wired installation.
Consider the Advanced plan of Google Home Premium if you need up to 10 days of continuous 24/7 video history, up to 60 days of event video history clips, or you need to record any of these:
- All events, even if no movement or sound occurs.
- Small animals like cats, squirrels and birds.
- People and objects when they don't move much, like people who sit and eat.
- Areas with poor or changing lighting, like many outdoor areas.
If you don't need to record any of the above, and you only need 30 days of video history, you may prefer the Standard plan of Google Home Premium for events-only recording in situations like these:
- Your camera monitors an indoor area, and you only need it to record adults who enter, leave, and walk across the room.
- You have a doorbell camera, and you only need to record activity at your door.
- Your camera monitors an outdoor area, and people are clearly visible within your camera's field of view.
