A recovery phone number or email address helps you reset your password if:
- You forget your password.
- Someone else is using your account.
- You're locked out of your account for another reason.
Tip:If you change your recovery phone or email, Google offers to send verification codes to your old recovery phone number or email address for 7 days. If someone uses your account without your permission, this lets you quickly change your settings.

Add a recovery email address- On your computer, go to your Google Account .
- On the left navigation panel, click Personal info.
- Under "Contact info," click Email Recovery email.
- You might need to sign in.
