The robot dog AIBO was perhaps the most technically sophisticated toy ever to be created by its Japanese manufacturer Sony: the battery-operated dog came with 18 electrically controlled joints, microphones, loudspeakers, emotion display, 64-bit processor and a balance system to enable it to stand up.
