The Dagmar Cross. An 11th century Byzantine reliquary cross. The cross is of gold with cloissoné enamel . A copy of the cross was given by King Frederik 7 as a wedding present for the marriage in 1863 of the Danish Princess Alexandra to the Prince of Wales , later King Edward 7 . Copies of the cross have since become popular gifts at christenings and confirmations in Denmark . Tradition has it, that the cross had belonged to the well-loved Queen Dagmar, who died in 1212, but the cross was most likely found in the grave of King Valdemar 2´s sister Richiza, who died in 1220.
