Five Hundred Billion Marks

When this banknote was issued in late October 1923 it was evident that the hyperinflation had to be stopped by issuing another currency. The text on the banknote therefore states that “this banknote could be withdrawn and replaced by other lawful tenders from 1 February 1924.”
